Sleep and Cycle Tracking

Sleep and cycle tracking, next to everything else you track

Balnc tracks sleep from your wearable, including duration, sleep stages, HRV and a nightly score, and tracks your menstrual cycle from the periods, flow, symptoms and mood you log. It predicts your next period, ovulation and fertile window, with a confidence level that rises as you log more cycles.

Where does Balnc get sleep data?

Sleep comes from your connected wearable. On the web, last night’s duration and score come from Garmin. HRV comes from Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, Apple Health or Health Connect. The Balnc mobile app, currently in testing, adds manual sleep logs and detailed stage breakdowns of deep, REM, light and awake time.

Sleep counts for 25% of your daily health score.

How does Balnc predict ovulation and the fertile window?

Predictions start from your average cycle length, which is assumed to be 28 days until you have logged your own cycles. Ovulation is estimated at 14 days before your next expected period, and the fertile window covers the five days before ovulation plus ovulation day. Each prediction shows a confidence level from very low to high.

These are calendar estimates based on averages. Don’t rely on them for contraception or fertility decisions without talking to your doctor.

Is cycle data private?

Cycle log dates, symptoms and mood notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored, and cycle data only reaches the AI coach if you turn cycle tracking on.

Common questions

Can Balnc tell me when I am ovulating?

It estimates it. Balnc predicts ovulation as 14 days before your next expected period, based on your logged cycle length, and shows how confident the estimate is. It does not measure hormones or temperature, so treat it as a guide, not a confirmation.
