Getting started
What is Balnc?
Balnc is a health tracking app that brings your nutrition, supplements, fasting, sleep, habits and wearable data into one dashboard. An AI coach built on Anthropic’s Claude reads them together and explains, in plain language, which habits are moving your numbers. It runs in the browser and is currently in private beta.
Is Balnc free?
Yes, there is a free plan with no card required. It includes unlimited food logging, the food database, macro tracking, 7-day history, HXP points and streaks. Paid Pro and Premium plans add fasting, supplement tracking, habits, AI photo logging, the AI health coach and the daily health score.
How do I get access to Balnc?
Balnc is in private beta and opens access in waves. Leave your email on the home page and you will be invited when a spot opens. If you already have an account, use Log in at the top of the home page.
Is there a Balnc app for iPhone or Android?
Not in the stores yet. The iOS and Android apps are in testing and will add Apple Health and Health Connect syncing. Today Balnc runs in any modern browser on your phone or computer, and Strava, Garmin, Fitbit and WHOOP connect from the web.
Tracking
What fasting schedules does Balnc support?
Balnc’s fasting tracker has presets for 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, 24, 36, 48 and 72 hours, plus any custom length up to 168 hours. Choose your fasting days and a start time, and each fast starts and ends automatically in your time zone.
How do I log food in Balnc?
Four ways: take a photo and let Claude estimate the meal, describe it in a short chat, scan a barcode, or search Open Food Facts and Balnc’s custom food database. Each entry records calories, macros, fiber, sugar, sodium, 14 vitamins, 11 minerals and omega fats. More on food logging.
How does the supplement quality score work?
Each product is scored from 0 to 10 using its label: dose compared with the NIH recommended amount (30%), safety against upper limits (20%), label transparency (20%), how well the ingredient form is absorbed (15%) and brand verification (15%). It is a label reading, not a lab test. More on supplements.
Does Balnc track sleep and menstrual cycles?
Yes. Sleep, sleep stages and HRV come from your connected wearable, and cycle tracking predicts your next period, ovulation and fertile window from the cycles you log, with a confidence level. Cycle log dates, symptoms and mood notes are encrypted. More on sleep and cycle tracking.
AI coach and health score
How does the Balnc AI coach work?
The AI coach answers your questions using a snapshot of your own data: recent meals, sleep, fasting, supplements and wearable metrics. It runs on Anthropic’s Claude models, saves key facts from past chats that you can review or delete, and is part of the Premium plan. It does not give medical advice.
Does the coach remember my past conversations?
It remembers key facts, not transcripts. After a chat it saves up to five facts, such as a goal or a food sensitivity, keeps up to 200, and uses the 15 most relevant in each answer. Transcripts are kept for at most 24 hours, and you can delete any memory in Settings.
What is the daily health score?
A 0 to 10 score for yesterday across sleep, nutrition, activity, fasting and supplements, weighted 25, 30, 20, 15 and 10 percent. Each morning between 6 and 8 a.m. an AI-written summary explains what moved it and suggests one thing to try. More on the health score.
Wearables and integrations
Which wearables does Balnc work with?
On the web, Balnc connects to Strava, Garmin, Fitbit and WHOOP. The upcoming iOS and Android apps add Apple Health and Health Connect. Garmin, WHOOP and Strava sync automatically; Fitbit syncs when you press Sync.
Can I connect Apple Health on the web?
No. Apple Health data can only be read by apps on your Apple devices, so the integration lives in the Balnc iOS app, which is in testing. On the web you can connect Strava, Garmin, Fitbit and WHOOP from Settings. See all integrations.
Privacy and your data
Is my health data private?
Sensitive fields such as your health profile, cycle logs and mood notes, coach memories and wearable connection tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived for your account. Balnc does not sell, rent or lease personal data. To answer coach questions, the relevant data is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API.
Can I export or delete my Balnc data?
Yes. Download a copy of your data from Settings under Privacy, and delete your account from the same screen. Under the Privacy Policy, account deletion removes your personal data within 30 days, and disconnecting an integration deletes the data that came from it straight away.
Is Balnc a substitute for medical advice?
No. Balnc is an informational tool. Its calculations and AI suggestions are for general and educational purposes, not a substitute for advice, diagnosis or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider. Talk to your doctor before changing medication, starting supplements or fasting with a medical condition.
